DESCRIPTION
To make this trip, we will cross the coast of the Seno de Reloncavi. Fishing area, collection of seafood and seaweed from shore. They emphasize Blue Stone, Metri and Lenca, also the view of the Calbuco archipelago.
The Alerce Andino Park is located between the estuary and the bosom of reloncavi, forming the so-called Cordillera Cordillera de Chaicas. Zone that has a micro-climate characteristic of humid rainy ecosystems.
In autumn season we can find a variety of fungi, and in winter we can see the granite hills with snow on the summits.
The great center of interest and particularity of the park is the large number of Alerces (F.cupressoides). Trees of great size and very old. The exploitation of this very abundant species at some point, has brought them to the verge of extinction. So since 1976 it is a protected species. The creation of this protected Wild Area has as one of the main motors the preservation of this species and others that are part of the rainy temperate rain forest.
From the city of Puerto Montt, the Chaicas access is about 49 k, and within the Park trails can be made up to 19k in total. To visit Saltos del Rio Chaicas, Laguna Chaiquenes and Laguna Triangulo.
