CALBUCO VOLCANO
DESCRIPTION
Calbuco volcano is a product of a violent eruption that occurred in 1893, also presenting important volcanic activity in the years 2015 and 1961.
Standing almost 1,500 meters above the summits that surround it, its access is only 40 kilometers from the city of Puerto Varas.
Although, technically, climbing is not complex, the greatest difficulty is due to the terrain because of the ascent. The constant slope and the volcanic slope make the physical and psychological ascension demanding, but once on the line of the trees the views to the Llanquihue lake and the Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador volcanoes are subtly colored by a complete panoramic from Puerto Montt to the border with Argentina.
