OJOS DEL SALADO VOLCANO PRIVATE EXPEDITION 

DESCRIPTION

 

This expedition of height will take you through the untamed corners of the Atacama Desert, we will cross the spectacular Santa Rosa Lagoon, we will acclimatize ascending a mountain in this place of almost 5.000 meters, we will relax in the hot springs at the foot of the Green Lagoon and then try the second highest mountain outside the Himalayas, in addition to being the highest volcano in the world, the Ojos del Salado which rises above 6.800 meters, which is undoubtedly an adventure where you look. Located in the Atacama Desert, surrounded by salt flats, highland lagoons and other mountains of more than 6.000 meters, make this an unmissable expedition for lovers of mountains and nature.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Copiapo / Valle Chico

After breakfast we will leave Copiapo in the direction of Valle Chico (3.100 m), where our acclimatization began with a trekking in the surroundings.

Day 2 Valle Chico / Laguna Santa Rosa

Following with our acclimatization plan we will make a trekking of 3 hours around the valley, to later go to the Santa Rosa lagoon (3.700 m), beautiful high plateau lagoon with a view to several mountains of the place and where flamingos nest.

Day 3 Cerro Siete Hermanos.

After breakfast we move to start the ascent of acclimatization to Siete Hermanos hill (4.780 m), beautiful mountain with magnificent views of the surrounding hills, to later returnto the camp.

Day 4 Laguna Santa Rosa / Laguna Verde

After disarming the camp we will move to the green lagoon(4.340 m), lagoon of turquoise waters in the Atacama Desert, We will have lunch in this place and we will go for a walk in the surroundings.

Day 5 Laguna Santa Rosa

Today we will take it calmly, day of walk by the lagoon, rest and good food.

Day 6 Laguna Verde / Cerro Mulas Muertas

Today we will continue our acclimatization plan ascending the hilldead mules but only up to 5.400 m, to later return to our camp.

Day 7 Laguna Verde / Atacama Refuge

In the morning we will disarm the camp, we will load the truck 4x4 and we will head towards our base camp located at 5.300 m, we will set up our camp and make a short walk around.

Day 8 Atacama Refuge / Tejos Refuge / Atacama Refuge

After breakfast we will arrange our equipment and perform a portage to our high camp located at 5.800 m, here we will have lunch, we will hydrate, to later return to Atacama refuge.

Day 9 Rest (Camping)

Today we will stay in the base camp recovering energy, enjoying of good food and drinking plenty of liquid to have an optimal acclimation for what comes to us.

Day 10 Atacama Refuge / Tejos Refuge

We move early towards our high field and thus have more time in height for a better acclimatization before the summit day.

Day 11 Day of Summit (12 to 14 hours / 5.890 meters / Camping)

Very early in the morning we will start heading towards the summit, in the first part, the road gradually increases in height to then make a traverse to the well-known sector of the Crater, from here we can appreciate the last part that corresponds to a rock climbing about 20 meters by moderate terrain, place where we will puta fixed rope for greater security after passing this part the the summit of this great volcano will be waiting for us. After the photos and hugs of rigor we undertake our return to ourcamp.

Day 13 Camp Tejos / Bahía Inglesa

In the morning we will disarm our camp, for first direct us to our Camp Refugio Atacama, place where we took our vans and headed to the coastal town of Bahia Inglesa to enjoy the well-deserved rest and a good meal withsea ​​products.Day 14 Bahía Inglesa / Caldera AirportTransfer to the caldera airport to later take the plane toSantiago and then the connection with the international flight.
